Role Description The Estimator role at Versus Plumbing is a full-time, on-site position based in New York, NY. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, and preparing detailed cost estimates for plumbing and sewer work on multi-unit developments and large construction projects. The Estimator will analyze labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs, request and evaluate quotes, and ensure estimates align with project scopes and budgets. This role involves collaborating with project managers, field supervisors, and technicians to validate estimates, track changes, and support bid preparations and proposals. The Estimator will also assist with cost comparisons, value-engineering options, and maintaining organized estimate records and databases to support ongoing and upcoming projects.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in construction or plumbing estimating, including reading blueprints and interpreting plans and specifications.
- Strong skills in cost analysis, quantity takeoffs, and preparing detailed estimates for labor, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency with basic office and estimating software (e.g., Excel, PDF markup tools, and construction estimating platforms).
- Solid understanding of plumbing systems, sewer work, and construction processes, preferably within multi-unit residential or commercial projects.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with project managers, field teams, and contractors.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Ability to work on-site in New York, NY and visit job sites as needed to gather information and verify project conditions.
