Job Summary
The Night Guard is responsible for providing security and protection for buildings, grounds, materials, work sites, or other designated venues. This entry-level position involves monitoring security systems, responding to alarms or issues, and conducting regular patrols. Essential Job Functions
- Monitor security systems and respond to alarms or reports of issues
- Conduct regular patrols of assigned locations
- Verify visitor credentials and follow required gate-keeping procedures
- Operate access control or identity systems to manage building access
- Complete shift activity logs and input data into security systems
- Conduct inspections of facilities and grounds as required
- Respond to requests for assistance from employees or visitors
- Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to supervisors
- Maintain a visible presence to deter potential security threats
- Assist in emergency situations following established protocols
- Ensure compliance with all company security policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong observation and reporting skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations
- Basic computer skills for logging and reporting
- Physical ability to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Security Guard License (if required by state or local regulations)
- 0-1 year of experience in security or related field
- First Aid and CPR certifications
- Knowledge of basic emergency response procedures
Work Environment
This position may involve working in various settings, including office buildings, industrial sites, or outdoor locations. The role typically requires working shifts, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays. Night Guards must be comfortable working alone for extended periods and in all weather conditions if outdoor patrols are required.
