We’re partnering with a leading technology company in Woburn, MA, seeking an experienced Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join their on‑site engineering team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in low‑level development, hardware–software integration, and building robust embedded systems from the ground up.
What you’ll be working on
- Developing and maintaining embedded Linux BSPs, including board bring‑up and hardware abstraction layers
- Kernel‑level development: configuration, optimisation, patching, and debugging
- Designing and implementing device drivers for custom hardware
- Working closely with electrical, firmware, and systems engineering teams to deliver reliable, production‑ready embedded platforms
- Performance tuning, troubleshooting, and root‑cause analysis across complex embedded environments
What you’ll need
- Strong commercial experience in embedded Linux, including BSP development
- Deep understanding of Linux kernels, bootloaders, and low‑level system architecture
- Proven experience writing and debugging device drivers (e.g., I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, etc.)
- Proficiency in C/C for embedded systems
- Experience with hardware bring‑up, oscilloscopes, logic analysers, or similar tools
- Ability to work on‑site in Woburn, MA (full‑time)
Bonus skills
- Yocto or Buildroot
- Real‑time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with ARM‑based platforms
- Knowledge of secure boot, trusted execution, or system hardening
