Tax Manager - Family Office

The Tax Manager will support the tax compliance, planning, estate, trust, investment, and financial needs of a well-established family office in Mankato, Minnesota. Working closely with the current Family Office Manager as part of a planned succession, this individual will have the opportunity to develop into a trusted long-term advisor to the family. The role is ideal for an experienced public accounting professional with substantial individual and high-net-worth tax experience who is looking for a broader, relationship-driven opportunity outside the traditional public accounting environment.

Worksite Location:

Mankato, MN – Onsite Opportunity. This is a fully onsite position in Mankato, and candidates with a Mankato connection or genuine interest in relocating back to the area are strongly preferred.

Salary

$175K - $250K base salary depending on experience

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, trusts, estates, foundations, and select partnerships.
• Provide ongoing tax planning and advisory support for family members and related entities.
• Assist with estate and succession planning in coordination with outside attorneys and professional advisors.
• Manage and monitor treasury activities and cash needs in coordination with investment managers and banking partners.
• Coordinate with investment managers, attorneys, bankers, accountants, and other outside advisors.
• Serve as a trusted resource and point of contact for six family groups and a family foundation.
• Assist with investment, compliance, financing, real estate, and financial reporting matters.
• Maintain strong relationships with banks, brokerage firms, investment professionals, attorneys, and other external partners.
• Support the long-term transition from the current Family Office Manager and assume increasing responsibility over time.
• All other duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Skills & Experience

• CPA strongly preferred.
• Approximately 8-9 years of relevant tax experience, or 10-13 years in a career with a significant tax focus.
• Strong recent experience with individual, trust, estate, and high-net-worth taxation.
• Public accounting experience with tax preparation, review, and planning.
• Experience working directly with sophisticated individual or family clients.
• Strong tax planning and advisory skills with the ability to think beyond compliance.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable collaborating with attorneys, investment managers, bankers, accountants, and other professional advisors.
• High level of discretion, professionalism, judgment, and integrity.
• Adaptable, service-oriented, and comfortable working across a broad range of family-office matters.
• Family office experience is a plus, but not required.
• Mankato connection or genuine interest in relocating to the area strongly preferred.
