Job Description

We’re seeking a highly strategic leader to join our team as Senior Director, Consumer Insights, in our Versant enterprise and growth area. In this role, you'll serve as a critical thought partner to executive leadership, using custom research, third-party data, and innovative analytics to drive business strategy, unlock growth opportunities, and inform decisions across the organization.

The enterprise and growth vertical of Versant is focused on long-term corporate planning, growing ad sales and strategic partnerships, distribution strategy and optimization, Versant enterprise synergies, changes in how consumer spend time and money, and emerging behaviors and new markets. This group helps Versant envision what direction(s) to go as a total portfolio, and how to invest and grow.

You’ll lead and grow a talented team of four focused on uncovering trends in audience behavior, platform engagement, and revenue drivers across our digital and linear ecosystems. The ideal candidate is a seasoned self-starter with a proactive mindset — able to identify opportunities, prioritize high-impact work, and operate with autonomy in a fast-paced, evolving environment, turning data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights and recommendations that move the business forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior executives to identify key questions, shape hypotheses, and deliver data-driven insights that inform corporate strategy, growth planning, and business optimization.
  • Lead a high-performing consumer insights team; mentor and develop talent while fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and impact.
  • Leverage custom research to proactively identify opportunities for business growth through investment in new and emerging areas.
  • Partner closely with Versant ad sales and distribution, using custom research to support growth and success in those functional areas.
  • Lead efforts to gather external market data and benchmark performance against industry trends to support strategic planning.
  • Conceive and roadmap custom projects – that may leverage any combination of primary research and analysis of 1st and 3rd party data - that unearth new opportunities and inform a high-growth path for Versant.
  • Define and track market-level behaviors that give Versant strategy leaders an advantage as they navigate shifts in the consumer economy to grow our overall business.
  • Utilize a range of qualitative and quantitative research methods (e.g., surveys, competitive benchmarking, market analysis, first-party behavioral data) to develop strategic frameworks and business cases that support strategic initiatives.
  • Translate complex analytical findings into clear, compelling narratives and presentations for C-suite and board audiences.

Qualifications

10 years of experience in consumer insights, analytics, or strategy, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or director-level role.

  • Proven track record of driving impact using consumer insights in a relevant environment (e.g., tech, media, finance, or consulting).
  • Strong expertise in primary research methods including questionnaire design, clustering analysis, perceptual market mapping, longitudinal tracking design, white space/opportunity mapping, and demand landscape sizing.
  • Self-starter and strategic thinker with a consultative approach — capable of identifying opportunities, framing the problem, and driving toward solutions with minimal direction.
  • Strong business acumen and comfort engaging with executive stakeholders across diverse business domains.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to distill complex analysis into clear, persuasive insights.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative, social science, or business field (e.g., Psychology, Economics, Sociology, MBA).
  • Data science / advanced analytics expertise a strong plus.
  • Prior experience in management consulting or corporate strategy roles a plus.
