Job Summary
VersaBucket is seeking a dependable and hardworking Yard / Shop Hand to support our fleet, maintenance shop, and daily operations. This position is responsible for keeping the yard and shop clean, organized, and safe while assisting with company vehicles, equipment, tools, parts, and general facility maintenance.
The Yard / Shop Hand will regularly move, fuel, clean, and transport company vehicles. Applicants must be at least 23 years old to meet VersaBucket’s commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, works well independently, follows directions, and is willing to assist wherever needed.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe yard, shop, and storage area.
- Wash, clean, and detail company trucks and equipment.
- Move and park company vehicles throughout the yard and shop.
- Fuel company vehicles and equipment.
- Transport company vehicles to repair shops, dealerships, inspection facilities, and other locations as assigned.
- Pick up and deliver parts, tools, supplies, and equipment.
- Check vehicle fluid levels, tire condition, tire pressure, lights, and general appearance.
- Report vehicle damage, fluid leaks, mechanical concerns, and safety issues to management.
- Assist mechanics with basic maintenance, repairs, inspections, and shop tasks.
- Organize tools, parts, equipment, and shop supplies.
- Receive, unload, inspect, and store incoming deliveries.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment.
- Stage vehicles and equipment for scheduled jobs.
- Remove trash, scrap materials, and debris from the property.
- Sweep, pressure wash, and clean work areas as needed.
- Assist with minor building, property, fence, gate, and grounds maintenance.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, pressure washers, forklifts, and other equipment when trained and authorized.
- Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Complete daily assignments and other duties as directed by management.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 23 years old to meet company commercial auto insurance eligibility requirements.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must have an acceptable driving record and remain eligible to operate company vehicles.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to safely use basic hand and power tools.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and other changing weather conditions.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
- Must be able to pass any required pre-employment screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a yard, shop, warehouse, fleet, construction, trucking, automotive, or heavy-equipment environment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge or experience performing vehicle maintenance.
- Experience operating a forklift, tractor, trailer, or similar equipment.
- Experience driving pickup trucks, commercial vehicles, or vehicles pulling trailers.
- Familiarity with vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
