POSITION: Advanced Technician


DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing


REPORTS TO: Group Leader


I. JOB SUMMARY


Responsible for assembly and testing of circuit boards, wire harness and final assemblies. The technician demonstrates a high degree of flexibility by performing tasks as assigned based on workload demands in the areas of board and harness mechanical assembly. Works under limited supervision by the Group Leader. Quality and workmanship standards must be maintained.


II. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


A. Perform assigned task on harnesses or other subassembly using process drawings and assembly details, demonstrating:

 1. Component identification knowledge,

 2. Test and other checkout procedures knowledge related to components and subassemblies,

 3. Proper usage of hand tools and mechanical equipment as necessary,

 4. Analysis of circuitry, solving problems, recommending design changes to specifications,

 5. Maintenance of statistical process controls,

 6. Ability to trouble shoot production problems,

 7. Acceptable rates of production versus standards,

 8. Accurate completion of time reporting required, and

 9. Understanding of quality policies.

10. Soldering ability on surface mount and through hole components.

B. Collect data for process improvement as required.

C.    Support and enforce Quality Assurance Policy and follow Work Instructions.

D.    Perform other duties as needed or assigned.


III. JOB PERFORMANCE DEMANDS


A. Assess from drawings the proper components necessary to ensure manufacturability.

B. Repair and rework of assemblies and subassemblies as necessary.

C. Perform repetitious operations with accuracy and consistency.

D. Perform simple mathematical computations.

E. Raise Group Leader awareness to situations with potential to affect productivity and quality.


IV. RECOMENDED JOB SKILL AND TRAINING


  • Two-year electronics degree or equivalent amount of training is preferred. Minimum of two to three years on the job experience, technician or equivalent previous position is preferred. Component identification, drawing interpretation, bill of materials and routing understanding is preferred. Ability to use calipers, ohmmeters, and other test equipment in the manufacturing process.
