Job Description
POSITION: CAD Designer
REPORTS TO: Project Engineering Manager
LOCATION: Mountainside, NJ
OBJECTIVE: To be a valuable team member of VERREX providing drafting support to the Engineering Department and others to complete projects in a timely, professional manner.
COMPENSATION: Salary, exempt (non-hourly), monthly cell phone stipend.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be able to read and understand architectural drawings and extract information needed for the design and implementation of audiovisual systems.
- Read and interpret wiring and schematic diagrams and develop an understanding of system fabrication and installation needs.
- Ability to multitask across multiple projects with different project teams to meet various deadlines as set by project schedules.
- Create drawings using company CAD platforms, primarily AutoCAD and/or Revit, under the direction of the Project Engineer, Project Manager or Account Executive, which depict wiring and architectural details needed, in accordance with Verrex Standards, Practices and Procedures.
- Import, convert, and/or manipulate drawings received from clients, architects and/or consultants in order to facilitate their ease of use within a Verrex drawing package.
- Create and maintain detail drawings which may include but are not limited to: mounting details, installation details, equipment details, rack requirements, etc.
- Create and maintain accurate CAD blocks which conform with company standards in centralized storage system for continued use by yourself and others within the CAD and Engineering team.
- Report on task progress in company tracking platforms
- Maintain a basic understanding of AV technology and the proper interfacing of components to be an active participant in system design with the Project Engineer.
- Revise drawings using notes and “red lines” received from the Shop, Field Technicians, Project Managers and Engineers.
- Maintain a comprehensive naming and storage scheme for archiving customer drawings for possible future use.
- Creation of any other types of drawings that Management deems necessary for jobs or projects that Verrex is involved with.
- Must show proficiency in use and understanding of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Visio, Word, Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and other applications required to perform drafting duties.
- Proficiency in Revit is strongly preferred.
