Position Summary
The Controller will serve as a key financial leader within Vero Capital, supporting both US Living and LC Vero business units. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will manage all aspects of financial reporting, accounting operations, and compliance. The Controller will work closely with the Directors of Asset Management and Construction to ensure accurate financial tracking of project-level and fund-level performance, while maintaining rigorous oversight of accounting controls and lender compliance.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in Class A multifamily real estate, including new development, major renovations, and construction financing, combined with strong fund accounting and SEC compliance exposure.
Key Responsibilities
US Living (Multifamily Development & Construction)
- Oversee accounting and financial reporting for all US Living development and renovation projects.
- Manage construction draws, lender reporting, and ensure loan covenant compliance.
- Partner with asset management and construction teams to provide real-time financial visibility into project budgets, costs, and forecasts.
- Establish and maintain internal controls, cost tracking systems, and project-level accounting best practices.
- Support audits, tax filings, and external reporting requirements.
LC Vero (Fund of Funds Platform)
- Manage all accounting and reporting functions for the LC Vero platform.
- Oversee capital calls, cash flow tracking, investor reporting, and underlying fund performance.
- Prepare quarterly and annual fund financials, supporting investor communications and fund compliance.
- Assist the CFO with SEC compliance and reporting, including coordination with legal counsel and auditors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity.
- Proven background in multifamily real estate accounting, including Class A assets, new construction, and major renovations.
- Experience managing lender draw processes, construction loan compliance, and development project accounting.
- Exposure to fund accounting and SEC compliance preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, real estate finance, and financial modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with accounting systems such as Yardi, Sage, or similar.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.
- Based in Dallas, TX (preferred); candidates in San Antonio or Houston may be considered.
Pay: $93,869.82 - $150,000.00 per year
