What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Assistant position at Vernon Health?
Full time opening for a Laboratory Assistant to work primarily in our family practice clinic setting. This Laboratory Assistant position will be based primarily at Hirsch Clinic in our medical office building in Viroqua with some local travel to other Vernon Health clinic locations. In the clinic, we work closely with one another, creating unique opportunities for growth and learning that are often found in smaller organizations. Duties for this Laboratory Assistant position include performing phlebotomy (blood draws), collecting samples, analyzing patient samples and performing EKGs. Will participate in laboratory team meetings and follow all laboratory standard operating procedures. Will also be responsible for instructing patient collections, verifying orders with providers and placing outside orders in the medical records.
Hours are Monday - Friday, varying times between 7:15 am - 5:30 pm, with a Saturday morning rotation. Previous relevant experience with drawing blood preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate. Certification as an EMT, CNA or Medical Assistant or in Phlebotomy would be beneficial but not required.
