Job Summary
Join our dynamic manufacturing team as a Production Associate making corn tortillas. Your energy and mechanical aptitude will drive the creation of Vermont's best tortillas. In this fast-paced role, you will be responsible for preparing masa, cooking and packaging tortillas in a manufacturing environment.
Duties
- Cook and Masa Preparation: Accurately weigh, measure, and mix raw ingredients (corn, water, and additives) according to precise company recipes.
- Machine Operation: Safely operate automatic and manual tortilla-making equipment, including cook tanks, girders, mixers, cutters, and conveyor ovens.
- Quality Control: Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and dough consistency. Visually and physically inspect tortillas for desired thickness, color, texture, and taste.
- Packaging & Inventory: Package finished tortillas, apply labels, and record production numbers. Monitor ingredient levels and notify supervisors when supplies run low.
- Sanitation: Disassemble, clean, and sanitize machinery, cooking vats, and work surfaces to maintain a hygienic environment compliant with health codes.
- Prepare materials for production runs, including loading, unloading, and organizing inventory in the warehouse
- Follow safety protocols diligently while maintaining cleanliness and organization in the manufacturing environment
- Support team members in meeting daily production goals through active participation in manufacturing processes
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
- Prior experience working in a factory or manufacturing facility is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is key
- Demonstrated mechanical knowledge and comfort using hand tools and power tools
- Warehouse experience is a plus, especially involving material handling and inventory management
- Ability to work well in a team
- Ability to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform physical tasks throughout shifts
Typical schedule is Monday-Friday, daytime, 7:30-8:00am start with end times typically between 2 and 4pm. Open to job sharing or part time if it works with the production needs.
