Machine Operator
Vermont Timber Frames is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Machine Operator to operate and maintain our K2 Joinery Machine and Industrial Thickness Planer. In this role, you will be responsible for producing high-quality logs and timber frame components that meet engineering specifications and our company quality standards.
The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, excellent attention to detail, and takes pride in producing accurate, quality work in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and adjust the K2 machine and industrial thickness planer for a variety of production jobs.
- Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to produce components to the required dimensions.
- Ensure the planer is operating safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures.
- Monitor machine performance throughout production and make adjustments as required to maintain quality and accuracy.
- Perform daily inspections to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
- Complete production logs and accurately record machine operations.
- Communicate any production or material issues that may impact workflow.
- Verify that finished products meet customer specifications and company quality standards.
- Conduct routine machine inspections and preventative maintenance.
- Perform daily cleaning and general maintenance of the planer and surrounding work area.
- Follow all workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience operating industrial woodworking or manufacturing equipment is considered an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and engineering drawings is an asset.
- Strong understanding of basic construction mathematics, including:
- Reading a tape measure
- Fractions and decimals
- Measurements and measurement tools
- Area and volume calculations
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Good analytical, mathematical, and computer skills.
- Forklift certification is considered an asset.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
