Description

The Vermont State University Music and Business Program on the Lyndon campus, within the Department of Music, Theater, Dance & Technology, is seeking a part-time instructor with professional expertise in event management and promotion to begin teaching in the Spring 2026 semester.

The Event Management and Promotion course introduces students to the principles, practices, and real-world applications of planning, organizing, and promoting live events. The instructor will guide students through key areas such as event logistics, budgeting, talent booking, venue management, marketing and promotion strategies and audience development. Emphasis will be placed on connecting classroom learning to contemporary industry practices, preparing students for roles in music business, arts administration, and live entertainment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly instruction for Music Business & Industry Majors in the areas of event management and concert promotion.
  • Support a wide variety of learning styles while working both in person and remote.
  • Help students build experience and network.

Job Qualifications:

  • College teaching experience is a must, a college degree in arts administration or similar, would be fantastic.
  • 5 years professional experience in the areas of concert booking and promotion, venue and box office management.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree or equivalent experience in the appropriate field of study.

Salary:

Based on credits previously taught per VSC-VSCPTF Bargaining Unit Agreement.
