Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team at Vermont Plastic Surgery, a small boutique plastic surgery practice in Williston, VT (www.vermontplasticsurgery.com). The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing various clerical tasks. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth operation within our medical office, enhancing patient experience, and supporting the overall efficiency of the practice.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Confirm appointments and ensure patients have completed paperwork.
- Schedule appointments and manage the medical scheduling system.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality.
- Answer phone calls and emails promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls as necessary.
- Process patient information using computerized systems.
- Assist with clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
- Collaborate with medical staff to facilitate patient care and office operations.
- Basic cleaning of staff/patient-care areas and laundry duties.
- Open and/or close the office.
- Become knowledgeable about all services and products offered in the practice and be able to speak to patients about them.
- Maintain inventory of office supplies and assist with re-stocking.
Skills
- Exceptional customer service skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Strong clerical abilities, including attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in patient service techniques to enhance the patient experience.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency in typing and computer literacy.
- Familiarity with computerized systems for efficient record management.
- Experience in medical scheduling and insurance is preferred.
- Background in medical receptionist or medical assistant duties within a dental or medical office setting is advantageous.
- Understanding of medical office management principles to support daily operations.
Education
- This position requires completion of high school or equivalent.
