As the Operations and Benefits Assistant at the Vermont Housing and Conservation Board (VHCB), you’ll play a pivotal role in the operational backbone of the organization - keeping our team connected, organized, and moving forward. Partnering directly with the senior leadership, this highly collaborative, dynamic role offers a vantage point into the heart of our operations. You’ll gain wide exposure across Human Resources, Office Management, and Organizational Systems while helping to shape how our team works every day.


In this role, no two days are quite the same. You will touch nearly every aspect of VHCB’s back-end operations, with key duties as follows:

• Office & Board Operations: Serving as the primary backup for front desk coverage and office management, assist with supply inventory and facilities upkeep, and support Board Meetings through packet preparation, logistics, and minute-taking.

• Human Resources & Benefits Support: Guide employees through benefits enrollment, support the hiring and onboarding process and assist with staff travel, events, and language access plan initiatives.

• Systems Modernization & Portal Management: Support improvement projects within VHCB’s Administrative Workplan, maintain the staff information portal, and help roll out accessible internal policies and staff trainings.

• Contracting & Administrative Special Projects: Assist with contract drafting, invoice processing, and procurement compliance, while providing cross-functional administrative support to program teams for grants, sponsorships, and event coordination.

Qualifications: • Committed to supporting VHCB’s mission • Demonstrated experience with project management • Previous experience with building Standard Operating Procedures, documenting workflows and/or developing internal policies • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate effectively and represent the organization • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 software and PDF software • Familiarity with document management and tech systems • Strong attention to detail; concern for accuracy. • Adaptability and flexibility to shift priorities as needs change. • Able to manage multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment, with strong aptitude for prioritization • Capable of working independently and take leadership of projects, while also being able to take direction well • Experience with taking minutes preferred • Demonstrated ability to collaborate on cross-functional teams to improve efficiency of technology system


Compensation: $59,000 – $62,500 commensurate with experience.
