What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Operator - Custom Woodshop position at Vermont Farm Table?
Vermont Farm Table is not a standard production environment. Our tight-knit team crafts custom solid wood tables to order; piece to piece, day to day, it is all a little different.
We are seeking a CNC Operator to play a key role in our woodshop. Experience is preferred, but not required; if you have strong foundational skills, mechanical aptitude, and a desire to learn, we will train you for long-term success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Process solid wood table tops and base components using a 5-axis CNC (Biesse Rover)
- Modify existing programs by adjusting variables based on custom product specifications (Biesse B-Solid)
- Use hand tools and industrial woodworking equipment to fine-tune joinery and fitment
- Verify dimensions using calipers, tape measures, and shop drawings
- Perform in-process and final quality control checks
- Update production status and workflow within the VFT Operations Database
- Work closely with Milling and Assembly teams to maintain efficient workflow
- Perform routine machine maintenance and daily cleaning
- Monitor tooling condition and assist with maintaining machine calibration
REQUIREMENTS:
- CNC experience preferred, but not required
- Basic computer and math skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to safely operate woodworking equipment (table saw, jointer, planer, sanders, etc.)
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Team-oriented mindset and strong work ethic
- Availability for full-time (40 hours per week)
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- $22-$28/hr depending on experience
