Vermont Electric Cooperative (VEC) seeks a Control Room Supervisor to lead our 24/7 Control Center operations in Johnson, Vermont. This position is designed for someone with proven team leadership, communication, and collaboration skills who can grow into technical expertise and, as success warrants, a larger role in management. This position supervises the System Operations team while ensuring reliable power delivery to our 33,000 members across Northern Vermont. We are committed to providing safe, affordable, and reliable energy services to the communities we serve.

You will lead this team in oversight of dispatch operations, system disturbances, and power restoration efforts. Your supervision skills will be essential in developing and empowering a high-performing team that operates in compliance with regional, national, and international standards. Through effective communication and collaboration, you will coordinate with multiple departments and external utilities to manage transmission and distribution activities.

Your leadership will be instrumental in maintaining comprehensive documentation, ensuring accurate reporting, and fostering a culture of uncompromising safety and integrity. You will participate in emergency restoration efforts and may serve in the Incident Command System during major storms. The position involves building staff capacity through training initiatives and developing trusted work relationships across the organization.

The ideal candidate brings two or more years of supervision experience and demonstrated excellence in team leadership. A background in utility operations is preferred. The role requires acquiring expertise in utility operations, including switching and tagging procedures, while supporting strong cybersecurity practices. Familiarity with industry software such as NISC, Mapview, Milsoft, and ArcGIS is highly desirable. The position requires an Associate's degree in Engineering, IT, Computer Science, or equivalent combination of education and experience. That said, we encourage "imperfect" candidates. This position offers a competitive salary range of $110,000 to $125,000 per year. VEC benefits include comprehensive health, dental, and vision as well as life insurance and a generous paid time off and retirement benefits package. The role is based on-site at our Johnson, Vermont facility. We have two control rooms and this position should expect to travel regularly to the Newport, VT facility with occasional other travel within our service territory. Northern Vermont is beautiful and we consider this a perk.

Regular hours align with Engineering and Operations (7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), with occasional off-hours support for the team and during storm events.

Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
