Position Summary
As a Commercial Loan Officer at Vermillion State Bank, you'll be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with business clients throughout our service area. You'll partner with small to mid-sized businesses to provide financing solutions that support their growth while ensuring the bank's credit quality and commitment to personal service.
This salaried role is designed for a relationship banker who values community involvement and meaningful connections with customers.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Management & Business Development
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with business owners, commercial real estate investors, and local entrepreneurs.
- Proactively seek new lending opportunities through community networking, business visits, and referral development.
- Serve as a trusted advisor, helping clients structure the right financial solutions to meet their business objectives.
- Partner with internal teams to deliver comprehensive banking services, including deposits, treasury management, and digital banking options.
Loan Origination & Portfolio Management
- Analyze borrower financial statements, tax returns, and business plans to determine creditworthiness and appropriate loan structures.
- Prepare and present loan requests in accordance with bank policy and regulatory standards.
- Manage and monitor an active commercial loan portfolio, ensuring strong communication, timely renewals, and ongoing client engagement.
- Work collaboratively with credit analysts and operations staff to ensure accurate and timely processing of loan documentation.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3–5 years of experience in commercial lending, business banking, or credit analysis.
- Proven ability to develop and manage strong customer relationships within a community banking environment.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $100,000 – $150,000 (Dependent on experience and qualifications)
