Sr. Joint Venture Accountant

Vermilion has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Joint Venture Accountant. Reporting to the Manager, Joint Venture Accounting, the successful candidate will leverage technology to help automate and enhance the team’s analytical and processing capabilities. In addition, the successful candidate will help ensure timely collection and payment for a selection of Vermilion’s operated and non-operated properties in Canada and the United States. Key Responsibilities: The Senior Joint Venture Accountant will be accountable for supporting the Joint Venture Accounting team in process optimization and completing day-to-day responsibilities. Process optimization Working with the Joint Venture Accounting team, identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve joint venture accounting processes. These could include: Automating non-op invoice processing. Enhancing analysis capabilities through connecting data sources to review profitability and potential data anomalies. Improving reporting for stakeholders’ needs and increased team efficiency. Day-to-day responsibilities Provide accurate and timely non-operated joint venture billing analysis and coding. Including: Ensuring proper approvals are in place for capital expenditures. Ensuring ownership in wells is correct. Ensuring operators are compliant with all associated agreements. Responsible to ensure joint venture accounts receivable and payable are current for both operated and non-operated properties. Communicating with joint venture partners and responding to joint interest billing queries and audits to ensure prompt resolution of partner disputes. Calculating 13th month adjustments for operated properties. Liaise with Land, Engineering, and Joint Venture contracts departments. Support for acquisitions and divestitures, including coding and booking interim and final statements of adjustments. Other duties as assigned. Essential Experience & Skills Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and EnergyLink experience are required. Experience with Qbyte FM, Power BI, and/or ERP tools would be an asset. 5-10 years of accounting experience in the oil and gas industry. A CPA designation would be an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attributes & Characteristics A dynamic multi tasker who enjoys the challenge of problem resolution.
