Responsibilities
- Develop and implement educational programs focused on nutrition, public health, and wellness.
- Conduct workshops and seminars on various health topics, utilizing strong public speaking skills.
- Provide one-on-one counseling sessions using motivational interviewing techniques to support behavior change.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care for individuals with disabilities.
- Collect and analyze data related to health education initiatives and program effectiveness.
- Stay updated on medical terminology, Medicare policies, and current trends in health education.
- Create educational materials that are accessible and engaging for diverse audiences.
- Advocate for the needs of individuals with disabilities within the healthcare system.
- Collaborates with the preparedness coordinator to coordinate, write, and implement required community health assessments such as Illinois Project for Local Assessment of Needs (IPLAN).
Experience
- A background in Nursing or Social Work is preferred.
- Experience working with people with disabilities is highly desirable.
- Proven ability in teaching or training others in a health-related field.
- Familiarity with public health principles and practices.
- Skills in motivational interviewing and addiction counseling are a plus.
- Strong data collection and analysis skills to assess program impact.
