POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently perform diagnosis based on customer complaint and write-up. Apply product knowledge, professional expertise, and recommended procedures to conduct repairs.
Conduct repairs and replacement of components based on diagnosis. Follow recommended practices and procedures in accordance with time standards.
Perform routine Preventive Maintenance while checking for other necessary repairs or causes of failure.
Responsible for accurate and timely recording of time, job codes, repair description, parts, supplies along with required customer and equipment information on work orders and other documentation.
Efficiently use computer and other electronic testing devises along with diagnostic software for internal purposes and OEM diagnostic/warranty requirements.
Effectively utilize schematics, diagrams, blueprints and other written instructions for diagnostics, repair and/or installation of equipment and components.
Proficiently use torches, welders, drills/bits, reamers, taps/dies, and other equipment to fabricate and repair equipment and components.
Enhance the overall customer experience by effectively communicating with the customer and team members to ensure their equipment is well-cared for during the repair process.
Collaborate cross-functionally with parts personnel and other departments to ensure the customer is taken care of.
Actively participate in routine training courses as assigned, while continuously seeking out opportunities to learn and develop.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and safely utilize Vermeer Heartland property and equipment.
POSITION SKILLS/ ABILITIES
- Demonstrated familiarity with Vermeer products and/or similar industrial, agricultural equipment, utilizing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- High-level of computer proficiency with ability to utilize IntelliDealer business operating system and various OEM manufacturers software for diagnosis, repair and work order documentation.
- Ability to multi-task and work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-demand role on a consistent basis.
- Excellent customer service skills with ability to turn negative situations into positive experiences and opportunities.
- Excellent people management and communication skills for both internal co-workers and external customers and suppliers.
- Available on short notice to work overtime as customer demand or Vermeer Heartland operations dictate.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Formal technical school training in hydraulics, electrical, gas/diesel engines and structural systems or equivalent experience is a plus.
- 2-5 years of experience as a Service Technician, or equivalent in a dealership environment.
- 1-3 years of experience with Vermeer industrial equipment or equivalent commercial, agricultural or material handling equipment is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and able to meet Heartland insurance providers qualifications.
- Ability to sit, stand, twist, lift and lower repeatedly and for extended periods in both internal and external environments.
