Summary:
The Factory Operations Manager is a pivotal Verlo Mattress role. This role serves as the leader for the Production Team and Delivery Team. This role requires excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to outstanding service. The position is at the Greenfield Office location based in Greenfield, Wisconsin. The Factory Operations Manager reports to the General Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Production Management:
- Supervise and lead a team of production workers to ensure efficient and effective mattress production.
- Maintain high standards of production quality, ensuring products meet all safety, design, and quality specifications.
- Monitor production schedules, ensuring all orders are completed on time and within budget.
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and improve efficiency.
- Continuously evaluate production processes for improvements to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Manage all aspects of mattress production, from raw materials to finished goods, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Supervise warehouse operations including receiving, storing, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
- Schedule and direct daily work for production and warehouse staff, balancing workload and labor needs.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate with sales teams to meet demand.
- Ensure facility and equipment are maintained in safe and operational condition.
- Train, evaluate, and support team members to meet performance and safety standards.
- Oversee quality control processes and conduct regular product inspections.
Quality Control:
- Enforce quality standards in the production process to ensure all mattresses meet or exceed company specifications and customer expectations.
- Conduct regular inspections of finished products to confirm adherence to quality standards.
- Implement and oversee quality control processes to identify any defects or non compliance during production.
- Train team members on quality assurance procedures and best practices. o Maintain compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations.
Inventory Management:
- Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, components, and finished products to ensure production runs smoothly.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory and materials, ensuring stock is replenished on time to avoid production delays.
- Create purchase order for all components and material needs and prevent shortages or overstocking.
Team Leadership:
- Hire, train, and mentor production team members to ensure they meet production goals and adhere to quality standards.
- Foster a collaborative and positive work environment, promoting team cohesion and motivation.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing feedback to ensure continuous employee development.
- Ensure safety standards are followed in the production area to maintain a safe working environment for all team members.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of production output, inventory, and warranty service requests.
- Provide regular reports to upper management on production efficiency, product quality, and customer service metrics.
- Ensure compliance with all industry regulations and company policies regarding manufacturing, safety, OSHA requirements, and customer service.
Other duties as assigned.
Personal Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a production management role, preferably in a manufacturing environment such as mattress or furniture production.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, inventory management, and quality control procedures.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with both employees and customers effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Ability to maintain accuracy in record-keeping and inventory management. * Familiarity with warranty processes and customer service protocols is a plus.
Education and/or Experience :
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in production/manufacturing is advantageous but not required.
- Some Microsoft Office skills, including excel and power point.
- Comfortable to present and speak in front of groups and leadership.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform manual tasks as required.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Ability to work in a factory environment with varying temperatures and noise levels
