What you’ll be doing...
The EngineerIII – Computer Ops will be part of a highly specialized team providing hardware support for one of Verizon’s enterprise data centers. The team is responsible for the physical site and the compute assets housed within a large, complex facility. While working with the team, the selected candidate will build on their existing skills in data center operations and hardware support as well as increase their knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems that support the critical operations. This role is considered a senior position and will be responsible for performing and monitoring various data center operations.
Primary Hours: Third shift (10:30 pm– 07:00 am)
- Installation of IT hardware, including racking, patching, and installation of parts.
- Providing 24 x 7 first response technical support for the data center.
- Participating in on-call and shift rotations for customer problem resolution.
- Pre and post-installation preparations and documentation, quality assurance, asset inventory auditing through the DCIM tool.
- Managing hardware inventory forother business groups, including shipping and receiving.
- Producing specific deliverables relating to operations management.
- Occasionally leading staff members and peers on projects.
- Work as a team member with senior technical staff on large complex technical projects.
- Complete assigned technical projects on time (i.e., analysis, development, implementation, testing, monitoring, maintenance, production support, documentation).
- Analyze problems, develop and implement solutions, and make decisions that significantly impact projects.
- Act as a subject matter expert while providing coaching and mentoring to junior members.
- Resolve escalated trouble tickets and complex issues within established timeframes while providing quality customer service.
- Able to perform physical requirements of the job, with or without a reasonable accommodation, including, but not limited to climbing ladders, ability to lift 50lbs, and reach under sub-floors for installing or removing cables.

What we’re looking for...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Associate's degree, technical school certificate or four or more years of work experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of cable installations using both fiber and copper cables.
- Excellent understanding and troubleshooting skills of server, network, storage (SAN) and mainframe hardware.
- Experience with rack and stacking.
- Comfortability reaching and working under sub floors.
- Routing and switching experience.
- Excellent customer service skills.
