Verition focuses on global investment strategies including Global Credit, Global Convertible, Volatility & Capital Structure Arbitrage, Event-Driven Investing, Equity Long/Short & Capital Markets Trading, and Global Quantitative Trading.
We are seeking a Data Engineer to support the development of a modern Data Warehouse platform in the cloud. This role will contribute to the design and development of data ingestion pipelines, data models, and data platform infrastructure. The Data Engineer will work closely with business stakeholders across the firm to deliver high-quality datasets that underpin firm-wide reporting, reconciliation, and analytics. This role reports into the Data Warehouse Manager.

This role will contribute to the design and development of data ingestion pipelines, data models, and data platform infrastructure. The Data Engineer will work closely with business stakeholders across the firm to deliver high-quality datasets that underpin firm-wide reporting, reconciliation, and analytics. This role reports into the Data Warehouse Manager.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, & maintain modern data platform infrastructure in the cloud.
- Design, build, & maintain scalable data ingestion pipelines to validate inbound data.
- Design, build, & maintain robust data models to logically organize our data.
- Design, build, & maintain reusable ETL libraries to scale our team.
- Partner with business stakeholders across the firm to drive adoption of centralized data (e.g., risk developers, quants, PMs, PnL analysts, executives, BI developers, etc.).
- Ensure data modeling best practices (e.g., dimensional, fact, SCD, cumulative) are met.
- Ensure DevOps best practices (e.g., CI/CD, unit tests, linters, docs) are met.
- Own day-to-day operations of the Data Warehouse which includes triaging data quality issues, handling ad-hoc user requests, & managing outages/upgrades.
- Mentor junior engineers in design & code review sessions.
- Refine JIRA tickets with rationale and acceptance criteria.
- 4 years of experience in a data or software engineering role.
- 2 years of experience within financial services (ideally investment management).
- 3 years of experience with
- 3 years of experience with Python.
- 3 years of experience with SQL.
- 3 years of experience with Airflow.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with data modeling (dbt or SQLMesh).
- Exposure to portfolio/risk analytics, alternative data, or regulatory reporting.
- Experience with product management, requirements gathering, & backlog grooming.
- Experience with AWS.
Salary : $125,000 - $200,000
