Position Overview
We are seeking a SQL DBA to support an enterprise data platform modernization initiative. This role will be responsible for the performance, reliability, security, and scalability of the organization’s SQL Server database environment.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on DBA who can support production systems, troubleshoot complex database issues, partner with data engineering and application teams, and help modernize legacy database environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, monitor, maintain, and optimize Microsoft SQL Server database environments
- Support production and non-production database systems across enterprise applications and data platforms
- Perform SQL Server performance tuning, query optimization, indexing, and execution plan analysis
- Troubleshoot blocking, deadlocks, long-running queries, failed jobs, capacity issues, and database performance problems
- Administer backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high availability processes
- Support SQL Server Always On, clustering, replication, log shipping, and related HA/DR technologies
- Manage database security, user access, permissions, roles, auditing, and compliance-related controls
- Partner with data engineering, application development, infrastructure, analytics, and business teams
- Support database migrations, upgrades, patching, and modernization initiatives
- Develop and maintain database maintenance plans, monitoring, alerts, documentation, and operational runbooks
- Support ETL, reporting, analytics, and downstream data consumption needs
- Identify opportunities to improve database stability, scalability, automation, and operational efficiency
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of hands-on SQL Server database administration experience
- Strong experience supporting enterprise production SQL Server environments
- Deep experience with performance tuning, indexing, stored procedures, execution plans, and query optimization
- Experience with SQL Server backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions
- Strong knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, clustering, replication, or related SQL Server HA/DR tools
- Experience troubleshooting complex production database issues
- Strong understanding of database security, access controls, permissions, and compliance best practices
- Ability to partner with engineering, infrastructure, analytics, and business stakeholders
- Strong documentation and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-moving, enterprise environment with evolving priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud or modern data platforms such as Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Snowflake, or Databricks
- Experience with SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Power BI, Tableau, or enterprise reporting environments
- Experience supporting data platform modernization, cloud migration, or large-scale transformation initiatives
- Experience in mortgage, lending, banking, financial services, or highly regulated environments
- PowerShell, T-SQL, Python, or other scripting/automation experience
- Experience mentoring junior DBAs or acting as a senior technical resource

Salary : $70 - $95
