The Industrial Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and implementing engineering solutions that enhance operational performance across warehouse and distribution environments. This role focuses on designing efficient facility layouts, improving processes through continuous improvement methodologies, and establishing engineered labor standards. The position supports organizational objectives by increasing productivity, reducing inefficiencies, and improving overall workflow across supply chain and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design efficient and scalable warehouse and facility layouts to improve space utilization, throughput, and operational flow.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including operations, logistics, supply chain, and IT—to gather requirements and deliver effective engineering solutions.
- Lead continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and related methodologies to streamline operations and reduce waste.
- Conduct time studies and develop engineered labor standards to support workforce planning and performance measurement.
- Create and maintain detailed process maps for warehouse, distribution, and operational workflows.
- Assess current operational processes and recommend improvements for systems, software, and workflow optimization.
- Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, simulation software, and process-mapping applications to model and refine operational designs.
- Research, evaluate, and support the integration of new technologies, material-handling equipment, automation tools, and process innovations.
- Present engineering findings, proposed solutions, and performance insights to internal stakeholders and project teams.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to ensure successful completion of initiatives.
- Define and track KPIs and performance metrics to monitor the effectiveness of engineering and process-improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Research, or a related discipline (Master’s preferred).
- 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, warehouse operations, process engineering, or operational optimization.
- Demonstrated experience in warehouse layout design, labor-standard development, process mapping, and continuous improvement.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, simulation tools, material-handling solutions, and workflow-mapping software.
- Strong understanding of operational processes, automation concepts, warehouse systems, and labor-management approaches.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project-management skills.
- Working knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
