The Values & Responsibility Spiritual Guide serves as a facilitator within the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ Life Connections Program (LCP), a residential faith-based reentry initiative. This role provides interfaith, values-based instruction and mentorship to adults in custody, supporting personal transformation, moral development, and successful reintegration into society.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Spiritual Guide will:
- Deliver structured daily classes aligned with Life Connections Program curriculum
- Lead sessions on spirituality, emotional awareness, conflict resolution, integrity, leadership, and family relationships
- Facilitate group discussions, journaling exercises, and reflective activities
- Encourage participation across all program components
- Foster a respectful, inclusive interfaith environment
- Support individuals from diverse religious and non-religious backgrounds
- Work closely with the Life Connections Program Chaplain and program staff
- Contribute to curriculum development and program improvement
- Assess participant progress and adapt instructional approaches as needed
- Support discussions on accountability, victim impact, and personal responsibility
- Encourage connection to mentors, faith communities, and support systems post-release
- Promote holistic restoration of self, family, and community
Education and/or Experience
- Master’s degree (or current enrollment) in Divinity, Theology, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related field
- Experience in spiritual guidance, ministry, counseling, mentoring, or group facilitation
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Endorsement or affiliation with a recognized religious or spiritual organization
- Demonstrated good standing within a faith community
- Experience in correctional, reentry, or institutional settings
- Experience facilitating adult education or faith-based programming
- Experience working in interfaith or multicultural environments
Work Schedule
- Part-time position (approximately 24 hours per week)
- Monday through Thursday, typically 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Occasional evening sessions may be required based on program needs
- Schedule coordinated with program leadership and subject to institutional operations
Work Environment
- Work performed within a secure federal correctional facility
- Direct interaction with adults in custody
- Requires adherence to all Bureau of Prisons security protocols and procedures
- Must maintain professional boundaries, ethical conduct, and confidentiality at all times
Compensation
- Compensation based on a firm-fixed rate per session (hour)
- Payment aligned with sessions delivered and approved training time
