VMG is seeking two (2) Scientific Program Analysts to support the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) and the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term® (HEAL) Initiative. This position provides scientific, analytical, and programmatic support for the NIH HEAL pain research portfolio by evaluating scientific program performance, conducting portfolio analyses, coordinating scientific initiatives, supporting grant activities, and providing strategic recommendations to Institute leadership. The Scientific Program Analyst will collaborate with investigators, program staff, and stakeholders to advance innovative neuroscience and pain research initiatives that address the nation's opioid and chronic pain challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide scientific and programmatic support for the NIH HEAL Initiative and NINDS pain research portfolio.
- Conduct portfolio analyses using research outputs, performance metrics, and program evaluations to assess scientific program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Organize and maintain project documentation, communications, timelines, and project management tools.
- Track project milestones, action items, deadlines, and deliverables while providing regular status updates to program leadership.
- Review, edit, and proofread scientific and programmatic documents related to research management, policies, and strategic initiatives.
- Conduct comprehensive literature searches using PubMed, Web of Science, and other scientific databases to support program planning and scientific analyses.
- Analyze, interpret, summarize, and synthesize scientific literature, research findings, and program information into reports, presentations, and executive briefings.
- Develop scientific presentations, abstracts, posters, charts, graphs, spreadsheets, and briefing materials for scientific meetings and leadership presentations.
- Design, develop, and maintain databases, SharePoint sites, Listservs, project tracking tools, and other information management systems.
- Coordinate logistics for scientific meetings, workshops, conferences, committee meetings, teleconferences, and special initiatives.
- Draft agendas, meeting minutes, correspondence, participant communications, reports, and other program documentation.
- Coordinate communications with investigators, distinguished speakers, scientific working groups, and external stakeholders.
- Prepare and deliver presentations to Institute leadership and other stakeholder groups.
- Support strategic planning activities, funding plans, milestone development, budget planning, and research initiative implementation.
- Conduct project closeout reviews and develop recommendations that improve scientific program operations, communications, outreach, and portfolio management.
- Prepare technical reports, monthly status reports, scientific summaries, progress reports, and special analyses for leadership.
- Collaborate with the Office of Communications and Public Liaison to support scientific communications, website improvements, and outreach initiatives.
- Develop and maintain SharePoint sites, databases, website content, and data analytics tools supporting scientific program operations.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biology, Neuroscience, or a related life science discipline.
- Knowledge of NIH grants administration, funding mechanisms, and scientific portfolio management.
- Experience conducting scientific literature reviews and portfolio analyses.
- Strong scientific writing, technical editing, and report preparation skills.
- Experience preparing scientific presentations, reports, agendas, meeting materials, and executive briefings.
- Experience coordinating scientific meetings, workshops, conferences, and working groups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, organizational, project management, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while collaborating with multidisciplinary scientific teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting NIH, NINDS, or other federally funded biomedical research programs.
- Experience supporting neuroscience, pain research, addiction research, or translational science initiatives.
- Experience with scientific portfolio analysis, research program evaluation, and grants administration.
- Experience developing SharePoint sites, databases, dashboards, and project tracking systems.
- Experience coordinating scientific advisory committees, workshops, conferences, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Familiarity with the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term® (HEAL) Initiative and NIH research administration processes.
Work Environment
- Full-time position (40 hours per week).
- Monday through Friday schedule.
- Position is located at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) in Rockville, Maryland.
- Telework is available in accordance with government approval.
- Professional office environment supporting scientific program administration and biomedical research.

Salary : $81,175 - $128,660
