What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cable Technician/Installer position at VERITA TELECOMMUNICATIONS?
The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing telecommunications systems including fiber optic and coaxial cable networks. This role supports residential and commercial customers by ensuring high-quality installations, troubleshooting service issues, and delivering excellent customer service.
Cable Technicians may work on aerial, underground, or in-building cabling systems depending on project scope.
Key Responsibilities
Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and/or coaxial cables.
Perform residential and commercial service installations.
Troubleshoot and repair signal loss, connectivity issues, and equipment malfunctions.
Install modems, routers, set-top boxes, and related telecom equipment.
Read and interpret work orders, service tickets, and basic network diagrams.
Use testing equipment such as OTDR, power meters, and signal level meters.
Perform pole climbs or ladder work for aerial installations (if required).
Ensure all installations meet company and customer quality standards.
Maintain accurate service documentation and close out work orders in internal systems.
Follow OSHA and company safety policies at all times.
Communicate professionally with customers and address service concerns.
Qualifications
1 year of experience in cable, telecom, or low-voltage installation preferred.
Knowledge of fiber optic and/or coaxial systems.
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Valid driver’s license required.
Ability to pass background and driving record checks.
Preferred Experience
FTTH (Fiber to the Home) installations.
Experience with ISPs such as Comcast, Spectrum, AT&T, or similar providers.
Prior experience in structured cabling or low-voltage systems.
Experience working in customer-facing roles.
