Veriha Trucking is seeking a safety-focused, passionate individual to join our talented team as a Safety Advisor. The Safety Advisor plays a key role in supporting a proactive safety culture across the organization. This position is responsible for safety coaching, monitoring safety technology alerts, assisting with driver development, and ensuring adherence to company and regulatory policies.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct timely coaching sessions with drivers based on behavior trends, events, and other safety-related observations. Prioritize coaching sessions with high-risk or high-frequency drivers to reduce risk to the company.
- Conduct holistic safety reviews to make recommendations and administer training, development, disciplinary and/or driver terminations related to safety infractions and performance.
- Regularly monitor incoming alerts from driver-facing camera system and identify patterns of risky behavior and coordinate follow-up action as appropriate.
- Track and manage roadside inspection outcomes, recognizing both positive and negative results. Ensure any violations are addressed, and communicate potential impacts on driver safety scores and pay (where applicable).
- Monitor and respond to internal fleet messages regarding safety issues or concerns. Serve as a point of contact for safety-related questions from drivers and operations staff.
- Develop and share safety fleet messages, aimed at providing educational opportunities, as well as sharing timely, important safety-related information and updates with the fleet.
- Coordinate effective pairings of trainers and trainees based on safety and training objectives, driver compatibility, and availability.
- Follow up on any DOT or internal safety inspections resulting in negative findings, coordinating corrective actions.
- Perform job specific training, as needed, with new and existing drivers based on areas of specialty and company goals.
- Maintain safety policies and procedures and assist in development when necessary.
- Participate in staff professional training and self-assessments as requested.
- Serve as a backup for accident intake processes, and participate in accident investigations, gather facts, assess preventability, and support determinations as necessary.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Experience in safety, compliance, driver training, or fleet operations (2 years of transportation/trucking industry preferred).
- Working knowledge of FMCSA regulations, CSA scores, and roadside inspection processes.
- Excellent public relations abilities; able to develop and maintain effective, positive working relationships with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to train and mentor others; demonstrated abilities to train.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; able to communicate precisely, objectively, and appropriately.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and web-based applications with a willingness to learn new software programs.
- Good attention to detail
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills; ability to prioritize and plan work activities using time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain composure and a professional, positive attitude, both in person and on the telephone, during periods of stress
