We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and finance operations of our growing trucking and transportation business. In this role, you will own the financial heartbeat of the company; ensuring accurate reporting, strong internal controls, and actionable insights that drive operational and strategic decisions.
This is a high-visibility role where you’ll partner closely with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Commercial teams, shaping profitability, optimizing cash flow, and helping the business grow smarter and stronger. For the right candidate with strong finance and/or prior Controller experience in the transportation industry, we are open to remote work options.
Responsibilities:

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.
• Ensure timely, accurate financial statements and compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
• Oversee transportation-specific cost accounting (fuel, maintenance, insurance, claims, depreciation, driver-related costs).
• Partner with Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Commercial teams to provide financial insight and support decision-making.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow management.
• Manage AR, credit, and collections to support working capital and liquidity.
• Coordinate audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Support pricing, customer profitability analysis, and contract reviews.
• Drive process improvements, system optimization, and scalable financial practices.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications & Competencies:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA strongly preferred)
• 3 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility
• Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience preferred
• Trucking, transportation, or logistics industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and advanced Excel skills
• Proven ability to partner with operations and lead cross-functional initiatives
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
