Verified Controls is seeking an Automation Technician to join our team. The Automation
Technician will report to the Electrical & Instrumentation Supervisor. Their primary role will be the design, function testing, installation, maintenance, and repair of Control Panels, Programable Logic Computers, and other automation equipment to our customers specifications. The applicant must be able to demonstrate proven, practical experience with AutoCAD, PLCs, HMIs, etc.

Duties include:

  • Expert level experience with a variety of PLC, electrical, and other industrial automation equipment (Allen Bradley, Red Lion, Endress Hauser, Emerson instrumentation, Etc.) and the ability to configure, commission, troubleshoot, perform complex system tests, validate, and confirm functionality in an oilfield environment.
  • Designing and assisting in the building, function testing, installing, troubleshooting, and the repairing of automation, electrical, and instrumentation equipment. This includes programmable logic controllers, VFD's, motors, starters, contactors, smart field devices, and other automation control systems and panels.
  • Maintains All PLC Program files and documentation.
  • Stays up to date on all PLC programing, with NEC code and electrical developments. Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Totalflow, ABB Spirit, and Omni Flow computers would be advantageous.
  • Practical experience with Allen Bradley PLCs and Studio 5000 software.
  • Ensure correct electrical testing is completed to comply with standards and that all documentation is recorded correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Proficient knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation, and various serial and ethernet communications protocols such as Rs-232, Rs-485, PROFINET, Modbus, DNP3, CAN, and Ethernet.
  • Identify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite, and wireless field communications.
  • Must have the ability to demonstrate an understanding of electoral theory, symbols, and formulas. Be proficient in reading P&ID’s, wiring diagrams, and instrument/electrical schematics.
  • Ensure engineering documentation matches system install and/or red-lines are made to documentation for proper as-built corrections to final documentation.
  • Provides leadership and mentoring skills in the office and field. Coordinating and supporting efforts to technicians, the I&E Supervisor, Project Manager, and Customer representative.
  • Provide project support by understanding system process, equipment, and design. Participating in meetings, recording activities, and communicating with other team members.
  • Must be self-motivated, reliable, and punctual. Have strong communication skills. Complete work with a sense of urgency, to a high standard, and with attention to detail.
  • Must work well both independently and with a team and be willing to assist with other technicians and/or contractors.
  • Be able to work outdoors and during inclement weather, standing for prolonged periods of time and some heavy lifting.
  • Strong math, computer, and electronics skills; ability to work with hand tools and various instruments.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Is subject to overtime and unscheduled callout work after hours, on weekends and holidays.

Schedule:

This will primarily be a five on two off position, based out of Hammond, LA. The applicant must be willing to work in a verity of environments (office, land, and offshore) for our customers. Call outs and/or multiple days/nights spent away will be required.

Pay Scale:

Employee pay will be based on the knowledge and experience of the applicant. Mileage reimbursements are provided for travel to and from the office to the work location.
