Position Type: Full-Time | 5/2 Schedule (Must be open to varied environments: office, land, and offshore call-outs)
Pay Range: $32.00 – $45.00 / hour (Commensurate with practical field experience)

About the Role
Verified Controls is seeking an experienced, self-sufficient I&E / Automation Technician to execute field troubleshooting, loop tuning, and controls commissioning across industrial and oilfield environments.
We need technicians who can troubleshoot a loop under pressure, not just recite theory. If you've spent time inside a panel, chased a bad signal across a plant, calibrated instruments under a deadline, or traced P&IDs on active sites, we want to talk to you.
Key Responsibilities
- Field Diagnostics & Electrical Troubleshooting: Independently diagnose, wire, and calibrate motor control stations, 480V motor starters, VFDs, contactors, and control circuits.
- Schematics & Hazardous Areas: Read and troubleshoot directly from P&IDs, electrical schematics, and loop diagrams. Ensure full compliance with NEC codes and hazardous location standards (Class 1 Div 1 & Div 2).
- Instrumentation & Signal Loops: Convert 4-20mA current loops to 1-5V signals, apply Ohm’s Law, calibrate smart field transmitters/actuators (Endress Hauser, Emerson, etc.), and perform full loop checks.
- PLC Systems & Communications: Monitor, configure, and troubleshoot logic using Rockwell / Studio 5000 or alternative platforms (Siemens, Modicon, GE). Work with serial and ethernet protocols (Modbus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP).
- Commissioning & Live Bench Testing: Perform hands-on field testing, wiring, and verification on active equipment without requiring direct supervision.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Field Experience: Proven hands-on track record as a Lead/Primary I&E Technician in industrial or oilfield settings (Helper/Assistant-only history will not qualify).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong balance across 480V motor controls, P&IDs, schematic reading, hazardous classifications (Class 1 Div 1/2), and PLC logic diagnostics.
- Commute & Credentials: Must reside within daily commuting distance of the Greater Baton Rouge / Hammond, LA area. Active TWIC Card and valid Driver’s License required.
- Practical Assessment: Must be willing and prepared to demonstrate Ohm's Law, schematic interpretation, and wire a motor starter during a live, hands-on bench test.
- OMNI flow computer experience is a plus!
