Position Summary
VeriCore Quality Solutions LLC is seeking a seasonal Construction Materials Testing Technician to support public works projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin and surrounding areas of Northern California. Candidates should have relevant construction materials testing and inspection experience and be willing and eligible to join Operating Engineers Local 3.
This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in contributing to infrastructure improvements that directly benefit local communities. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety and quality, and a willingness to continuously develop their technical skills while advancing both personally and professionally within the construction materials testing industry.
Responsibilities
· Perform field testing and inspection activities on active construction projects.
· Conduct compaction testing and related quality control procedures.
· Document testing results and daily field activities.
· Communicate testing information with project personnel and contractors.
· Maintain compliance with project specifications and safety requirements.
· Support earthwork, underground utility, aggregate base, and asphalt paving operations as assigned.
· Travel to project sites throughout the assigned service area.
Qualifications
· Eligible to enroll in, or currently enrolled in, a California approved apprenticeship program.
· Relevant construction, inspection, materials testing, and quality control experience preferred.
· Ability to obtain required industry certifications.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and construction site conditions.
· Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.
Preferred Certifications
· ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
· Caltrans Test Method 125
· Caltrans Test Method 231
· Caltrans Test Method 375
Compensation
This is a prevailing wage position. Compensation is based on the applicable wage determination and apprenticeship classification. Apprentice rates vary according to progression within the approved apprenticeship program. A daily per diem may be provided for qualifying assignments.
