About the Role
Verellen is seeking a highly organized, solutions-driven Custom Projects Manager to lead the full lifecycle of custom furniture projects—from initial quoting through production handoff. This role requires a strong understanding of furniture construction, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with sales, engineering, and production teams.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confident in pricing custom work, and comfortable managing multiple active projects while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and momentum.
Key Responsibilities
- Price and quote custom projects within established parameters, ensuring accurate costing and clearly defined scopes.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to translate client needs into manufacturable solutions.
- Function as the communication bridge between sales, engineering, and production for all active custom requests.
- Manage the custom project pipeline from intake through ordering, engineering, and release to production.
- Review drawings, specifications, and materials to ensure feasibility and alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
- Maintain and update project tracking systems to ensure deadlines, approvals, and handoffs remain on schedule.
- Identify risks or issues early and recommend solutions to ensure project continuity.
- Support the sales team with technical clarification, lead time guidance, and customer-ready documentation as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in furniture building, fabrication, or professional woodworking logic.
- Strong understanding of furniture construction, joinery, materials, and manufacturing constraints.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the full Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent written, verbal, and cross-departmental communication skills.
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and documentation abilities.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly when evaluating custom requests.
- Ability to collaborate with sales representatives, engineers, and production teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages simultaneously.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent professional experience in furniture manufacturing, fabrication, or custom product development will also be considered.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
- This role operates primarily in an office setting at Verellen Manufacturing Plant.
- Regular collaboration with engineering, sales, and production teams requires time spent in manufacturing areas.
- May involve occasional visits to production floors where exposure to noise, dust, or machinery is possible.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while reviewing drawings, documentation, or digital content.
- Occasional lifting of materials, samples, or documents up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to walk through production areas and observe furniture builds, which may require bending, reaching, or navigating around equipment.
- Visual acuity required for reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and material details.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of required work are as follows, Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
