Job Title: Project Manager of Construction
Branch: Phoenix, Arizona
Supervisor’s Title: Director of Construction
Pay Range: $80,000 - $90,000 annually
Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing both the administrative and field execution of construction projects from award through completion. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract documents, company standards, and client expectations. The Project Manager provides leadership to project teams, manages subcontractors and vendors, tracks financial performance, and serves as the primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties
Project Planning & Execution
- Review, verify, and fully understand project contract, scope, drawings, specifications, budgets, and schedules at turnover from Estimating.
- Initiate project setup, including creation of project folders and communication of project details to field leadership.
- Oversee all phases of project execution to ensure compliance with contract requirements, budgets, and schedules.
Financial & Cost Management
- Manage and track all project-related costs including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Oversee project buy-out activities, including preparation of submittals, subcontractor scopes, purchase orders, and subcontracts in coordination with Purchasing.
- Identify cost impacts, scope gaps, change order opportunities, and risk areas to protect project profitability.
Team Leadership & Development
- Appoint project personnel in collaboration with the Director of Construction and field leadership.
- Assign responsibilities, communicate expectations, and ensure accountability for safety, quality, and production.
- Provide ongoing support, feedback, and professional development to project team members.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with clients, owners, architects, general contractors, and subcontractors.
- Serve as a lead point of contact for client communication and issue resolution.
- Lead or support resolution of client concerns to ensure satisfaction and long-term relationships.
Performance & Problem Solving
- Analyze project performance and operations to ensure objectives are met.
- Develop and implement corrective action plans to address project challenges or deviations.
- Collaborate with field leadership to maintain consistent production and quality standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Maintenance Operations to support plant establishment periods and property turnover.
- Work collaboratively with Estimating, Purchasing, Accounting, and Operations teams throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of project management or field leadership experience.
- At least three (3) years of experience managing landscape construction or site amenity projects.
- Demonstrated experience leading construction production teams.
Knowledge and Skills
- Construction Management Expertise: Strong understanding of construction sequencing, job cost management, and contract administration.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams, delegate responsibilities, and hold teams accountable.
- Financial Acumen: Ability to manage budgets, job costs, and profitability.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to analyze issues, implement corrective actions, and manage risk.
- Organizational Skills: Strong time management and prioritization abilities in a deadline-driven environment.
