What We Will Expect From You
Verbio is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, and experienced HR Generalist with a proven track record in the Human Resources field, including employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and people & culture for our bioethanol production facility. This role will focus on providing full scope Human Resources support that source, attract, develop, and retain a diverse group of employees with a strong focus on recruitment, retention, and people & culture development. This is a full-time exempt/salaried position eligible for health, dental, vision, 401(k), vacation and other employee benefits.
Essential Functions Of The Job
This role operates in both an office and manufacturing plant environment. When present in the plant, the employee must be able to wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE), which may include flame-resistant (FR) clothing, safety glasses, hard hat, safety-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves.
The position involves primarily office-based work, including prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, as well as regular movement throughout the facility. This may include standing, walking on the production floor, and transitioning between sitting, standing, and walking as needed during the workday.

- Closely collaborate with the Head of HR and the local leadership to implement best practices and alignment
- Assume all day-to-day HR functions for the assigned location, including employee relations, business partnering, and workforce planning
- Work closely with the HR team and employees to ensure data and documentation accuracy
- Assist in designing and implementing professional development, training, and coaching
- Work with managers to identify future labor needs and required qualifications
- Coach and support managers and supervisors to effectively facilitate employee relations needs
- Support managers and employees in the performance review process
- Collaborate with managers to help establish annual performance targets
- Arrange and lead all activities around recruitment, career fairs at local universities, trade and secondary schools
- Help develop intern and mentorship programs for college and trade school students
- Source potential candidates from various online channels (e.g., social media and professional platforms); attract passive candidates
- Advertise job openings on company’s career page, social media, job boards and internally
- Participate in job fairs and host in-house recruitment events
- Coordinate interviewing process for managers and interview candidates (via phone, video conference, and in-person)
- Send job offers and answer queries about compensation and benefits
- Manage the onboarding/offboarding process to ensure all required documents are collected and recorded
- Assist in leave management including STD, FMLA, Workers Compensation, and other leave.
- Draft and update job descriptions as needed
- Ensure compliance with all the local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and code of conduct
- Other duties as assigned
- 4 Year Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field
- HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR
- Proven work experience as an HR Generalist/Manager or HR Business Partner (at least 5 years) preferably in the biofuel’s production/plant environment
- Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems and resume databases (Paycor is preferred)
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- Sound judgement and integrity
- Excellent organizational skills
- Must be able to make prompt, informed decisions while working independently
