The Dental Specialty Center is the interdisciplinary hub of Verber Dental Group’s dental health system in Enola, PA. Under one roof, patients receive exceptional specialty care in a collaborative and comprehensive environment.
Our center is home to Alfano Oral Surgery, The Pennsylvania Center for Periodontology, Cumberland Valley Endodontics, Valley Advanced Orthodontics, Verber Advanced Dental Studio, VerTrue Dental Lab, and The Verber Advanced Dental Institute.
We are currently seeking a Full-Time Surgical Assistant to join our team and help provide safe, efficient post-operative care while supporting patient flow through the recovery process.
Schedule
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Position Overview
The Surgical Assistant plays a key role in ensuring patients receive attentive, compassionate care following surgical procedures. This position supports providers and the anesthesia team while ensuring a smooth, organized discharge process.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) seeking a new opportunity in a collaborative specialty setting.

Responsibilities
- Prepare the operatory for patient care
- Provide chairside assistance to the doctor, including monitoring vital signs, educating patient on pre and post-surgical care, and monitoring patients post op
- Maintain and sterilize dental equipment
- Radiograph patients as needed
- Review patients’ health history and update changes after seating
- Perform four-handed dentistry assisting
- Update the treatment plan in the electronic file following each visit
- Transport patients safely from the operating room to the recovery area
- Monitor post-operative patients, including vital signs, comfort level, and overall condition
- Identify and report post-operative concerns to providers or the anesthesia team promptly
- Review post-operative instructions with patients and designated drivers before discharge
- Ensure all consent forms and required documentation are complete and properly filed
- Contact patients before surgery to review pre-anesthesia instructions and document completion
- Schedule post-operative follow-up appointments as directed
- Assist providers with sending post-operative prescriptions and confirm pharmacy information with patients
- Prepare and maintain post-operative care bags for clinical staff
- Maintain stocked blankets and recovery area supplies

- Graduated from a Dental Assistant, Medical Assistant, or Licensed Practical Nurse Program
- Oral Surgery, Endodontic, or Periodontal experience preferred
- CPR Certification (we cover the cost if you need it!)
- Have completed training in safe patient transfers or be willing to complete the required patient transfer training upon hire.
- Strong communication skills and a positive attitude that help put patients at ease
- Knowledge of and adherence to OSHA, HIPAA, and Infection Control protocols
