What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior UX Designer position at Veras?
Join Veras, a fast-growing healthtech startup in Lehi, UT, as a Senior UX Designer. Work in-office with a small, high-ownership team building the platform that powers workforce management for senior care facilities across the country. You'll have the opportunity to shape design across products at various stages — from refining mature workflows used by tens of thousands of people every day to defining entirely new product surfaces from a blank canvas. This is a fully in-office position.
Veras is an early-stage startup backed by NFX (early investors in DoorDash and Lyft) and Spencer Rascoff (Zillow co-founder) building vertical SaaS for long-term care and senior living. The industry is massive — and it's been neglected by technology for decades. Facilities managing thousands of employees still rely on clunky, disconnected systems built by giant generalist companies that don't understand their world. We're changing that.
Building since April 2024, we've already witnessed strong adoption with over 30,000 people across 1,000 facilities using Veras today for scheduling and workforce management, and we're expanding to become the operating system for long-term care. Our goal is to be the single platform that replaces the patchwork of outdated tools these organizations are stuck with — and bring long-term care into the modern era.
Our values:
- Live Golden — be the example you want to see
- Seek Kaizen — never stop improving
- Be a Founder — take ownership, take risks
- Enjoy the Journey — work hard, play hard, celebrate the ride

- Own design end-to-end — from problem discovery and research through wireframes, high-fidelity design, prototyping, and shipped product
- Design across the full platform — leveling up the existing product as well as creating new ones
- Helping craft the Veras brand — everything from in-product experiences to marketing assets to employee and customer swag!
- Tackle complex, data-dense B2B workflows and make them feel effortless
- Partner closely with engineering and product to ship — your designs are the source of truth, and you'll see them through to pixel-perfect implementation
- Evolve and extend our design system so the product stays consistent and scalable as we grow
- Shape product direction alongside the founding team — bring your point of view on what we should build and how it should feel
- Talk to customers regularly and turn their reality into product — from nurses to executives
- Use modern AI design tools to multiply your output — we're all-in on this across the company
- 6-7 years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio showing complex B2B or enterprise work — not just marketing pages and landing flows
- Strong systems thinker — you can design a single screen and the framework it lives inside. You understand component reuse, states, edge cases, and how design scale
- Excellent visual craft — typography, spacing, hierarchy, motion. Your work is opinionated and refined, not generic
- Fluent in Figma and modern prototyping. Comfortable shipping interactive prototypes, not just static frames
- Scrappy, self-directed, and resourceful — you figure things out, take initiative, and don't wait around to be told what to do
- Fast learner who picks up new tools, domains, and industry themes quickly
- Product-minded — you care about the user and the business outcome, not just the aesthetics
- Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make good decisions without perfect information
- Strong communicator who works well in a small, collaborative team and can defend your decisions with reasoning
- In-person in Lehi, UT — we thrive on face-to-face collaboration
Experience designing for complex operational software (workforce management, scheduling, healthcare, logistics, fintech) is a plus, as is familiarity with our stack so you can prototype in code or partner deeply with engineering. What matters most is understanding our users, design taste, systems thinking, and the drive to help shape the product experience that will define the next phase of our growth.
- Work on real problems that matter, with tens of thousands of people relying on your designs every day — you'll be shipping from day one
- Join a massive market opportunity in one of the largest and most underserved industries in tech, where good design is genuinely rare and genuinely valued
- Own product surfaces and make decisions that matter — no design-by-committee, no endless rounds of review
- Learn directly from experienced founders and operators who are building alongside you every day
- Be part of a team that works hard and plays hard — team outings, hackathons, quality swag, and a culture that actually means it when we say "enjoy the journey"
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity in an early-stage company with real momentum
- Build on a modern foundation (clean design system, AI-forward workflow, tight design-eng partnership) with no legacy baggage to fight against
