Position:

Performs human factors engineering functions at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), including computer-human interface analysis, situational awareness, human-in-the-loop scenarios, ergonomics, and kinematics. Directs human factors studies for the FAA to promote the introduction and application of concepts, procedures, tests and evaluations, and operational requirements.


Responsibilities:

The candidate must possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Human Factors, Psychology (with an experimental, cognitive, or industrial/organizational focus), Engineering (with a Human Factors/Human Systems Integration [HF/HSI] focus), or Computer Science (with a human-computer interaction or user experience focus).


The candidate must have a minimum of two (2) years of post-degree relevant experience working on research or system development projects. The candidate must be able to input, compile, organize, edit, and review data in accordance with protocols and procedures established by the research staff.


The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional/project experience. The candidate must also have at least one (1) year of relevant experience using human-in-the-loop simulation platforms, HF/HSI data collection tools and instruments (e.g., eye tracking), and data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., statistical software).


Qualifications:

  • Experience: 2–6 years.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: Physical Sciences (e.g., mathematics, physics, meteorology, chemistry), Applied or Experimental Psychology, Human Factors, Ergonomics, Sociology, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree or MBA in a related field may be counted as an additional three (3) years of experience.
