Overview:
The ALF Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning of all technical systems and equipment within the Assisted Living Facility (ALF). This includes performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs of facility systems while ensuring compliance with AHCA regulations and state-specific standards. The technician will contribute to the overall safety and operational efficiency of the facility, supporting the well-being of residents and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on facility systems, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, medical devices, fire alarms, and emergency equipment.
- Repairs: Troubleshoot and repair any malfunctioning equipment or systems such as fire alarms, backup generators, lift systems, lighting, medical equipment, and security systems.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all systems and equipment are in compliance with AHCA regulations and state-specific guidelines, conducting safety checks, inspections, and repairs to meet required safety and health standards.
- Emergency Systems: Conduct regular testing and maintenance of emergency power systems, fire suppression systems, and security alarms to meet AHCA and state safety codes.
- Medical & Assistive Equipment: Maintain and repair medical and assistive devices used by residents (e.g., lift chairs, mobility aids, bed alarms) to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and compliance checks to ensure the facility passes AHCA inspections and state audits.
- Work Orders: Respond to maintenance requests, prioritize work orders, and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other facility departments (e.g., housekeeping, nursing, administration) to ensure smooth operation and maintenance of all systems.
- Training: Provide guidance and training to staff on the proper use of equipment and systems to ensure safety and reduce breakdowns.
- Facility Upgrades: Assist in the installation and setup of new equipment and systems, ensuring they meet the facility’s needs and regulatory requirements.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in facility maintenance, technical support, or a similar role. Experience in healthcare or assisted living environments is a plus.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of AHCA regulations and state-specific compliance requirements for assisted living facilities.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with the maintenance and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.
- Medical Equipment: Experience with the maintenance of medical devices (e.g., lift systems, bed alarms) is preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently and safely.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document repairs and work orders, and communicate with staff.
- Safety Awareness: A strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations, particularly those involving fire safety, emergency systems, and electrical equipment.
Work Environment:
- The role involves working in an Assisted Living Facility, which includes both office and clinical areas. Ability to quickly respond to maintenance requests, emergency situations, and routine inspections is required.
- Must be available for on-call or emergency situations as needed to ensure the safety of the facility and residents.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 33 per week
