Job Description

Position Purpose: 

The operator will be responsible for operating and maintaining water treatment facilities and distribution systems, ensuring safe drinking water delivery to our customers in compliance with state and federal regulations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

• Operate water treatment plant equipment and processes.
• Monitor and adjust chemical feed systems.
• Collect and analyze water samples.
• Maintain accurate operational logs and records.
• Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
• Respond to customer service calls.
• Conduct distribution system maintenance.
• Participate in on-call rotation.

Work Environment:

• Must be able to work in all types of weather.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background: 

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• 2 years experience in water treatment operations.
• Experience with SCADA systems.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

• Must have the ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions).
• Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
• Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
• Must be able to serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call if required by site.
• Basic computer skills.
• Knowledge of laboratory procedures.
• Basic mechanical skills.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

• Must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
• Must be able to pass a drug test and a criminal background check.
• Massachusetts Water Treatment Operator License (Preferred).
• Massachusetts Water Distribution License (Preferred).

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to walk, stand and climb, including uneven terrain.

Additional Information

Pay Range: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour.
