Survey Design Technician

Summary/Objective:

The Survey Design Technician (Office) supports the Geomatics team by processing survey data, preparing construction layout information, and assisting with survey deliverables for underground utility, earthwork, excavation, roadway, and paving projects. This position is intended for a survey professional with field experience who is transitioning into an office-based technical role while continuing to support field survey operations.

Essential Functions:

· Process survey data using Trimble Business Center or related survey software.

· Create, edit, and maintain survey drawings, construction layouts, and project files using AutoCAD.

· Prepare survey deliverables, field calculations, GPS files, and construction layout information for survey crews and operations teams.

· Assist with machine control models, GPS project files, and other data used for field layout and construction activities.

· Review construction plans, survey data, and design information for accuracy, completeness, and potential conflicts.

· Support survey crews with data preparation, field calculations, file updates, and technical questions.

· Perform quality control checks on survey data, drawings, layouts, and deliverables before they are used in the field.

· Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, survey personnel, and other team members to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.

· Maintain organized electronic project files, including drawings, revisions, field data, GPS files, and survey documentation.

· Assist with survey support for wet utilities, dry utilities, earthwork, excavation, roadway, and paving projects.

· Communicate plan changes, data concerns, or potential field issues to the appropriate team member in a timely manner.

· Follow company procedures, quality standards, and safety expectations when preparing information used for field operations.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Several years of construction survey field experience preferred, including experience with wet utilities, dry utilities, earthwork, excavation, roadway, or paving projects.

· Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.

· Experience with Trimble Business Center preferred, or willingness and ability to learn.

· Experience with GPS survey equipment, construction layout, field calculations, and survey data preparation preferred.

· Strong understanding of construction plans, survey principles, elevations, alignments, and layout information.

· Ability to organize and manage multiple project files, priorities, revisions, and deadlines.

· Strong attention to detail with the ability to review survey data and construction plans for accuracy, completeness, discrepancies, or potential conflicts.

· Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with survey crews, project managers, superintendents, and other team members.

· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, electronic file management, and project documentation.

· Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record may be required depending on assigned duties.

Pay: $1,700.00 - $1,800.00 per week
