What are the responsibilities and job description for the Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician (MD/DO) position at Venture Wellness RVA?
Venture Wellness | Midlothian, VA | Part-Time, Hybrid | venturewellnessrva.com
The Role
We're looking for a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine physician who is done with rushed visits and insurance-driven volume and ready to build a lower-volume, high-relationship panel on your own terms.
This is a direct primary care model: no reimbursement games, no coding for RVUs, no chasing payer approval to practice good medicine. It's also a hybrid role by design — you can keep other clinical work (moonlighting, locum, an existing practice) while your Venture Wellness panel builds, so you're not betting your whole income on day one. With visits in person to establish the relationship, then supported with virtual and phone/text care as appropriate.
Schedule: Part-time, hybrid — starts at 8–15 hrs/week, growing with your panel size up to full time hours
Compensation: Phased: hourly during onboarding, transitioning to salary a per-patient inventives with panel growth
Support: Full MA and front-desk support, with an office team that handles admin so you can stay focused on patients
Why Physicians Choose Venture Wellness
- A hybrid schedule that protects your income while you build. Keep other clinical work during ramp-up, this role is designed to grow with your panel.
- Independent practice, without the risk. Enjoy the autonomy of independent practice with financial protection from reimbursement changes, your income isn't tied to payer cuts.
- Low volume, real relationships. A low-volume practice built around prevention, wellness, and long-term patient relationships, not throughput.
- Full clinical scope, every age. Care patients across the entire lifespan, not a narrow demographic slice.
- Compensation that grows with you.
- Full support, no admin burden. MA and reception support plus an office team.
- Full benefits upon transition to full-time. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, CME allowance, and PTO once your schedule moves to full-time.
What You'll Do
- Maintain and manage a longitudinal patient panel supported by practice marketing and administrative support.
- Assess, maintain, and improve the health status of the individuals and communities you serve, across a panel spanning the full lifespan
- Foster long-term patient relationships by incorporating prevention, wellness, and patient education into every visit
- Evaluate and manage patients in our medical weight-management programs, and participate in hormone optimization, BHRT, menopause, and testosterone-related care after training if desired.
- Collaborate with the broader clinical and support team to deliver high-performing, coordinated care
- Document encounters in Optimantra (our EMR) and manage patient communication within established timeframes
What You Need
Required
- Graduate of an accredited U.S. medical school (MD or DO)
- Board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine (non-specialized)
- Active and unrestricted Virginia medical license
- 5–20 years of dedicated primary care experience
- A compassionate, relationship-driven approach to medicine with genuine interest in preventive health and wellness
Strong Plus
- Prior experience or demonstrated interest in Direct Primary Care and/or integrative medicine
- Medical weight loss experience
- Hormone optimization, BHRT, or menopause care experience
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Comfortable with telehealth and AI-assisted documentation
Is This You?
You're motivated to grow and maintain a patient panel, often consisting of patients who are invested in their health rather than churn through visits. You want the autonomy of independent practice without carrying the administrative and financial risk alone. Patient relationships and preventive care matter to you as much as treating what's already gone wrong.
If that's you, we want to talk to you.
