Job Summary
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, support regular staff in providing academic and social instruction and support to individuals or small groups of students with special needs; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help skills, including hygiene, eating, social, community, vocational, and leisure/recreational skills. Substitute teachers do not dispense medications; they do not perform specialized physical health care procedures; and they do not drive vehicles to transport students. Substitute teachers are required to learn about and support implementation of school-wide systems of behavior, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and/or Nonviolent Crisis Prevention Intervention (NCPI); however, they do not utilize restraint procedures.
Requirements / Qualifications
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid California Special Education Credential to teach students with Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe) disabilities. Appropriate certification for teaching English Language Learners. It is desired that candidates have experience working with children or adolescents with autism and training with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
All application materials must be submitted with a VCOE application as a complete package. A complete application package must include the following:
- Credential Copy ( (Copy of valid California State Credential Copy ((Please attach a copy of your Extensive Support Needs (Moderate/Severe) Special Education Credential))
