UF Relief Lead- Flex Shift

Job Summary

Working under the direction of a supervisor, the UF Lead is responsible for the safe efficient operation of the ultra-filtration systems. This system works to debitter the juice through a complex series of membranes and resin columns. The operator may be assigned to any shift and may be assigned to cross train with other plant operators. In the absence of this person, other UF operators will split shifts in 12 hour days or group leader.

Will act as a lead and relief for UF Operators, Pasteurizers' and Oil Recovery Operators as needed. Reports to the UF Supervisor. 

Primary Responsibilities

• Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately.  All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
• Perform startup / shutdown on both U.F. systems.
• Clean up and sanitize U.F. systems, resin columns and keep the U.F. building in sanitary order.
• Maintain Target throughput through systems & Quality in spec product for customer specification.
• Maintain handwritten record of tracking flows and monitoring of filtration modules.
• Cross train and assist in Evaporation, Pulp Collection, Extraction and Product Binning, as necessary.
• Follow all safety rules and practices to include the wearing of all essential personal protective equipment.
• Follow all personal hygiene and food safety/quality practices.
• Safely operate Forklift.
• Complete daily Forklift check.
• Act professionally towards customers, vendors and other visitors to the plant.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude at all times.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or group leader.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Basic computer skills, i.e., the ability to read and operate a touch screen.
• Must have a forklift license or the ability to obtain one.
• At least one year’s experience in a plant manufacturing environment.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to meet flexible and changing priorities and the ability to work under pressure is a must.
• 80% walking, climbing stairs and ladders in a plant environment.
• 20% operating a computer touch screen in the UF room.
