SUMMARY
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible for leading safe, effective, and engaging group fitness classes in an inclusive and welcoming environment. Drawing on their training and expertise, they design and deliver well-rounded workouts, motivate participants, and prioritize safety throughout each session. Classes may include aerobic exercises, muscle toning, strength and endurance training, and stretching
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Design and lead group fitness classes in accordance with best practices and certifications.
- Provide instruction for a variety of formats, which may include cardio, strength training, muscle toning, HIIT, core conditioning, and flexibility/stretching.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive atmosphere for participants of all backgrounds and abilities.
- Ensure proper use of equipment and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Offer modifications and progressions as needed for varying fitness levels.
- Set up and clean equipment before and after class.
- Maintain a high level of energy, professionalism, and motivation.
- Stay current with fitness trends and maintain all required certifications.
- Report any incidents, injuries, or equipment concerns promptly.
- Understand different health needs; observe and adjusts approach to support all participants' capabilities, physical conditions, health, and culture.
- Initiate appropriate actions to maintain safety, cleanliness and organization throughout the facility, with priority being the health and wellness department.
- Maintain working knowledge of health and wellness trends.
Qualifications:
Skills/ Abilities
- Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time.
- Must have a high degree of energy and have the endurance to complete the workout.
- Ability to lead and motivate a diverse group of participants.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and be able to motivate and work with a diverse group of people
- Ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with customers.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology and training principles.
Education/Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age.
- High School Diploma.
- Must pass a background check.
- Group fitness instructor training and certification.
- 2 years of experience teaching in the fitness industry.
- Must maintain CEC’s to keep National Group Exercise and Personal Training Certifications current.
- Must possess current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification. (obtained within the first 30 days of employment).
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift, push or pull up to 40lbs of fitness equipment.
- Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).
Schedule is evenings and weekends
