What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Coach position at VENTANA CANYON ALLIANCE LLC?
The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club is seeking an Assistant Swim Coach to help lead and coach young swimmers. Create a fun and inviting learning environment to ensure a positive experience. Build strong relationships with participants and continually challenge them to the next level. Demonstrate positive attitude and actions through a display of courtesy, service, cooperation, hospitality, sensitivity, and professionalism to internal and external customers.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Swim Coach in instructing athletes on rules, regulations, and techniques of the sport.
- Organize and direct individual and group practices as directed by the Head Swim Coach.
- Provide competitive swimmers the opportunity to master technique.
- Lead daily practices under the direction of the head coach.
- Attend and support swimmers at meets as needed Perform daily maintenance of the pool area.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to swim the competitive strokes of Free Style, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly.
- Ability to maintain physical and mental fitness level consistent with readiness to respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to act quickly, decisively and calmly in an emergency.
- Ability to perform rescue actions and administer CPR and First Aid as needed.
- Ability to write and lead workouts.
- Ability to build relationships with members of all ages.
- Ability to handle and resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner.
- Ability to multi-task and learn quickly.
- Self-starter, reliable, responsible, and dedicated.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service skills, energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational.
- Comfortable working with all age groups, including children and teens.
- Ability to maintain physical and mental fitness level consistent with readiness to respond to emergency situations.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma
- One year of club, high school or college swim coaching experience (preferred).
- Safety training for Swim Coaches certification (preferred).
- First Aid and CPR/AED certification.
- Must pass a background check.
- Must be over 18 years old.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, grab, pull and push objects in or out of water, squat down, stoop, kneel, crouch and jump.
- Must be able to work under variable temperature conditions (extreme heat or cold, indoors/outdoors).
- Must be able to hear distress noises and hear and see distress signals in a noisy aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere in the zone of responsibility.
