Position Summary
A high-acuity regional hospital in the greater Nashville area is seeking a Director of Emergency Services to lead operations for its busy Emergency Department. This facility operates as a Level I Trauma Center and is recognized nationally for excellence in emergency, stroke, and cardiovascular care.
The Director will oversee day-to-day operations of the emergency department, manage departmental budgets, and lead a large and collaborative team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Quality & Compliance
- Champion evidence-based practices that elevate clinical outcomes
- Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards
- Optimize patient throughput and implement care coordination improvements
- Promote accountability and transparency in clinical operations
Operations & Leadership
- Lead emergency services with support from a strong management team
- Drive staff engagement and build a culture of excellence and accountability
- Collaborate across departments to deliver coordinated care
- Contribute to the growth and strategic direction of emergency services
Patient Experience
- Lead initiatives to improve the patient and family experience
- Utilize patient feedback to guide measurable improvements
- Foster a service-oriented environment across all touchpoints
People Management
- Recruit, train, and retain high-performing clinical staff
- Provide mentorship and coaching to nursing and management teams
- Align staffing and scheduling to support quality patient care
Finance & Strategy
- Develop and manage operational budgets

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to lead in complex, fast-paced healthcare settings
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred
- Active RN license (or ability to obtain in TN)
- 3 years of leadership experience in a high-volume Emergency Department
- Level I or Level II Trauma experience required
