Roles Overview
The Test Engineer is responsible for the setup, execution, and reporting of vehicle and component tests using chassis dynamometers. The engineer will follow standardized procedures to collect high-quality data that meets internal and customer specifications. This role requires strong technical proficiency, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Core Responsibilities
Test Operations:
- Execute dynamometer tests in accordance with established test procedures and schedules
- Monitor test execution to ensure compliance with test parameters and safety protocols
- Interpret customer test requests and develop detailed test procedures, schedules, and data collection strategies.
- Interface directly with clients to define requirements, present results, and manage expectations throughout test programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test setup, data acquisition, and control systems.
- Champion process and innovation in support of improved testing methods and protocols.
- Ensure proper data collection, storage, and preliminary validation
- Support data review and assist with report preparation
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including safety and quality standards.
- Establish and enforce compliance with quality standards to achieve the highest levels of customer / client satisfaction.
- Adhere to process control procedures, operating instructions, and all quality control instructions.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or a related discipline
- Dynamometer or automotive test engineering experience preferred
- Familiarity with industry testing standards (CFR 1066, SAE J1634, etc.)
- Proficiency in data acquisition software and basic instrumentation
- Understanding of control systems, PID tuning, and PLCs
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
- Customer-focused mindset with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Spreadsheets and Databases.
